To clean the ears of your dog, begin by placing a few drops of detergent in one ear to ear and massage the ear to help loosen any debris that is there. Then use a cotton cloth or gauze to wipe the dirt off.
After the canine dog ears are thoroughly clean, you can then apply the medicine. Follow your veterinarian for advice on how to apply medications to the ear, usually a few drops.
The treatment your veterinarian will prescribe will vary depending on the cause of ear infection. For yeast infections, which may prescribe anti-fungal. For bacterial infections that are likely to prescribe antibiotics. Usually, treatment is applied directly to the ears, but in severe cases systemic treatment may be necessary. This usually means having to give your dog pills orally. .
Some dog breeder that are subject to infections include breeds with large ears that flap to the ear canal, and breeds of dogs that have a small channel. These dogs need their ears checked often.
