How to Buy Canine Dog Food Cheap.

How to Buy Canine Dog Food Cheap.

  • Plan when you buy the dog food and use online resources. Petsmart and Petsco offer coupons (percentages off) when you buy at certain times.
  • All you need to do is sign up for their ezine and keep an eye for the offers. I see deals at least 2x's a month.
  • Use coupons. If you are using a name brand, then there has to be a coupon out there for using. If your store allows it, grocers will double and this gives more bang for the buck.
  • Coupons can be found in the Sunday paper, online at coupons sites or check E bay for lot sellers of particular brands.
  • Buy at the canine dog supply store. Also known as ranch stores. Mainstream grocers and pet companies have a fairly large market up.
  • However, the canine stores are usually owned by locals and can be cheaper - substantially.
  • Buy in bulk. If you have a car for Sam Club or Costco, you may be able to find your canine dog food much cheap in quantity. This way you buy it less often and get more cash savings.

How to select the best hills canine dog food.

How to select the best hills canine dog food.

Here are the things that I look for in a canine dog food::
No generic fats or proteins instead, look for named sources such as beef fat, chicken fat or lamb meal.
  • I don't consider poultry fat as bad as animal fat, but chicken fat is better. Never feed a food that uses the generic ingredients "meat meal", "meat and bone meal", or "animal fat".
  • Human grade ingredients.
  • This item is somewhat controversial, as hills canine dog food by law cannot be labeled human grade, but I look for companies that use human grade meats.
  • For even higher quality, look for hormone- and antibiotic-free meats, especially those that are free-range or pasture-raised.
  • Avoid foods that use corn gluten meal, a cheap waste product from the human food industry that provides incomplete protein for dogs.
  • I consider this hills canine dog food ingredient to be one of the hallmarks of poor quality foods. Wheat gluten meal, one of the ingredients that caused illness and death due to contamination in the recent Menu Foods recall, is similar a cheap source of poor quality protein used primarily by the lower-quality foods.
  • Rice protein concentrate, which was also involved in the pet food recalls, is a little better quality than the other two, but still provides incomplete plant protein rather than the more desirable animal protein. Soy protein has the same problem.
  • No meat by-products or digest. There is some disagreement whether whole meat is preferable to meal.
  • Meal has been rendered, but it is also dried, so if a meal is listed as the first ingredient, there is greater likelihood that the food contains more meat than grains.
  • When whole meats such as chicken, lamb, turkey, etc. are listed as the first ingredient, there may actually be much less meat due to the weight of the moisture in the meat.
  • Both whole meats and meals are considered acceptable as long as they are identified and not generic.
  • By-products may be OK if the company specifies that they are human-grade organs such as liver and kidney, but otherwise they usually signify parts not considered fit for human consumption.

How to Canine Dog DietM

How to Canine Dog Diet?

Canine Dog Drinking water and eating it is important to ensure that he has enough fresh water and a balanced diet in order to prevent health problems and dehydration, which can lead to death.

A dog receives moisture from both drinking water and eating.
  • Extra water should be made available during exercise and in extreme heat. Shade should also be provided to reduce the amount of fluid loss.
  • In the event a dog becomes dehydrated, small amounts of water should be given to avoid vomiting and further fluid loss.
  • No dry dog food should be given at this time. Electrolytes and perhaps broth to encourage drinking should be added to his water.
  • Checking for any throat obstructions is also important. If the Canine Dog does not drink or continues to present symptoms of dehydration, a visit to the veterinarian will be necessary to determine if there is an underlying health problem or to administer IV fluids.
  • Prevention of dehydration is best. Canine Dog should have plenty of fresh water available to them at all times.
  • Outdoor dogs should also have shade readily available to prevent overheating and dehydration. Do not overexert dogs when exercising them and make water available to them. Overweight and older dogs should not be overtaxed as well.
  • Exercise your dog during cooler times of the day and pick a path that has at least some shade. Remember a dog does not have sweat glands and can only maintain proper body temperature through panting.
  • They also have a coat of fur, which increase body temperature. Never leave a dog in a car! Even with an open window, temperatures inside increase rapidly and can be as high as 10 to 20 degrees higher than outside of the car.
  • Since a dog normally needs at least one ounce of water per pound per day, it is important to increase this amount when the environment changes, activity increases or when illness occurs.
  • Almost three quarters of a dog's weight is from water, so as little as a 15% loss can cause death.
